Some have notched the skeg to get a longer xducer to fit ...
I have also seen a hole drilled in the skeg and offset mount the xducer to the side of the skeg with the included transom hardware (modified of course) ...

Just got a helix 9 mdi g3n. Looks like the transducer is gonna be a tight fit on our minn kota maxxum 70 trolling motor. Before we swap for the trolling motor transducer, we would like to be sure that it will be able to fit on our trolling motor or if there are any other possible solutions. Thanks.

Call Brian at BBG Marine. I purchased a Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI DI unit from him. He sent me a adapter bracket kit to mount the transducer to the trolling motor. It worked out great. You can find his number here on this site.
I have a helix 9 G2N SI and have the transducer mounted on a maxxum 74lb trolling motor. It's the transom transducer and it fits. Used a transom bracket and modified it for 2 hose clamp and its solid and fits above the skag for protection.
