    Default Keep It Simple

I put my boat in the river as the sun came up this morning... That was about 7:00 o'clock my time. I fished for about five and half hours with only one bite. I bet I used six or seven different colors. I jigged. I used jig under bobber. I was so frustrated. I could see the fish on my fish finder. I had given up and was motoring to the ramp and saw my uncle skulling close to a lay down. He gestured the "how many" gesture to me. I shot back a zero and eased over his way. I watched him pull out about three crappie in less than ten minutes. My uncle doesn't use a fish finder. Doesn't use a TROLLING MOTOR!!! But there he was grinning ear to ear pulling eaters out of the water. He gave me a few of the jigs he was using, moved down about ten yards so I could have his spot and watched me catch my first fish of the day on the jig he had just given me.

I left thinking I'm making it way too difficult.

Good story. Something I heard about old age and experience trumping youth and skill comes to mind. Its the way of the world, I guess.

In my case, one out of two is all I got, so I need all the help I can get.

You gotta watch them uncles, more tricks than a bag of cats.
At least mine are that way.

Years ago we all fished as your uncle does. The fad of having the newest, biggest, best and most equipment on board got most of us into the test of times for fishing differently. I feel like you also when nothing works as it should. I have to take a step back every so often too! Thanks for the story. We all need it to remember those days of having a buck or two in the pocket before all this fancy electronics came along!
