I am in the same boat. I have just recently upgraded to 12” and 9” carbon units. I have been looking at the point 1 set up as well and this is why. The charts and gps system is great like it is out of the box. But when trying to creep in on a brush pile last couple weeks I have saw where it could be handy. I know it updates faster and keeps your heading and location spot on and not jumping around on the screen. I can see where it would be nice fishing the way I have been lately. But I haven’t pulled the plug on it yet.
I have the carbon 7 and the point one greatly helps me get positioned onto the brush pile. You don't HAVE to have it, but it does help. I'm glad I finally got it. Try it for a while without it and then decide. If you don't do a lot of single pole brush pile fishing then no, you won't need it. JMHO.

Hey guys, is the the same as the AS GPS HS - External GPS Heading Sensor I am using for my Helix 10? If so, I believe it is extremely important for pinpointing my location over a brushpile.
