Default Battery For A Garmin Striker 7sv

I am fishing out of a canoe on Lake Hartwell and would like to get a small battery for my Garmin Striker 7sv. Amazon has a 12 volt sealed battery that says 12 volt 7 Ah. The Garmin specs says the current draw @ 12 volt: .067A. That should be sufficient battery power for 4 or 5 hours of fishing before the next recharge, shouldn’t it?

    Thanks

I have a Garmin 93sv echomap so it probably uses more power than the striker but I'm not sure. I was getting interference from the trolling motor so I just got a second battery and I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which is a 12ah. I looked up the size that Garmin used on their ice unit for the same unit and bought that size of battery so I would look at what size battery they have in their Striker 7 ice units.

I went ahead and looked it up. Looks like it uses the smaller battery so you should be good but the bigger battery wouldn't hurt if you have room

That should be good for over 50 hours of fishing.

Wow, Barnacle Bill. That would be awesome. I hope I didn’t make a mistake in reading the specs. Here is a copy and paste.
    • Current draw @ 12V: 0.67A

A retired US Navy guy should know this kind of stuff. Thanks for your service and for your reply. I really appreciate it.

    Thanks for your help.

    Take care

0.67A is ten times more current than 0.067A, 7AH/0.67A = 10 hours, but this is a gross approximation and not a useful calculation. The battery should have some data or a curve where you can make a reasonable approximation of how long it can provide 0.67A. I use a 9 AH battery with a little Hook2-5 on my kayak, and it will last about 2 days fishing, but I recharge it every night anyway.
