Sometimes they show some wacky stuff if the transducer isn't in the water, like sitting in the garage shooting down to the floor.
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on here? It came on the boat I just purchased. It was professionally installed by the dealer for the previous customer. All connections seem secure. My battery is reading 12.7 volts. It’s wired directly to the battery. It’s a Hook 2 4x. I am replacing it either way but I figured I could get a tank of gas out of it. However, I can’t if it’s broken.
Justin Crosby - Anybody know what’s going on here?
Sorry, I couldn’t seem to post the video from my phone. I posted the link.

Justin, I'd say it's "fried" if that's the way the screen looks every time you turn the unit on. How or why it got that way I have no clue, so I would defer to the gentleman's comment on your FB page video that the processor in the unit is fried.
It is curious, though, that the temp readings and MPH readings are solid .... while the screen image seems to be working for a split second & then "rebooting" constantly.
If you're going to replace it, anyway, I'd call Lowrance and see if they can tell you what had to happen to make it that way ... just to be sure it doesn't happen to the new unit (if it's possibly something in the way it's wired up).
Then I'd shop around for a replacement unit & get some prices .... and then contact Brian@BBGMarine (member here) and see if he can beat those prices. I have not dealt with Brian, but I do hear that he is very good at pricing below commercial outlets and has a lot of knowledge about the units/brands he sells. I can't remember ever seeing a negative review of any transaction with him.

True. This isnt in the water and is slightly worse than usual. However, it does it in the water too. Sometimes worse than others. I did a few things and couldnt ever develop a pattern for it. I guess I am going to call it toast. Figured I would investigate before trashing it. Thanks for the response.

Go to page 26 or so to 29. Look at custom options and check out factory reset or default settings.
If that doesn’t work turn off, then holding +/- keys at same time hold power button until US map pops up. That should do a hard reset. If that doesn’t fix it it’s fried.

i agree with cray. do a hard reset and see what happens.
So I have attempted a hard reset. I turned unit off, held +/- and power button. I tried holding page button And power power button. It’s just keeps turning itself on as if it were a normal start up as soon as I touch the power button. Held it for 30 seconds plus and no change. It just powers up normal as soon as you touch the power button no matter what other buttons you’re holding.
Can you hear or feel the transducer clicking when it's on?
At this point I would call Lowrance and see what they have to say. With that picture you posted it appears the processor is just trying to start itself repeatedly.
