Are they both hooked to the same battery

I am having a problem with interference on my bow mounted garmin. It has a great picture when I am not running the trolling motor but sometimes it becomes unusable when the trolling motor is on. It comes and goes. I can be trolling along and its all good and then for no apparent reason it goes south. I have moved cables, wriggled cables, flipped it the bird. Nothing helps. Does any body have any ideas? The trolling motor is a minn kota 80 lb thrust and its pretty old. Oh and the garmin is almost new.

No, the Garmin is hooked to the cranking battery.

My 73sv did the fuzz out every time I would hit the troller motor not sure what fixed it, after my step son wrecked my truck and the boat slammed into the tailgate it works fine, but I dont recommend that method. The Garmin folks are awesome when it comes to issues

Lol, dont think I'll try that. I did run a twisted pair power cable today and moved my transducer wiring. I guess we will see.

Is there a common on-board charger hooked to both batteries ...??

what model? built in us2?
what model of trolling motor? does it have a us2 built it? have you checked the fuse in the top of the trolling motor? sounds like its a loose connection in that fused wire in the trolling motor head if it has one.
