Default They may have found the fix for the new 1.84 humminbird update problems...

I saw this posted on a humminbird group on Facebook and thought I would share. If you have issues with the units continuously rebooting when it connects to i-pilot....

    They found the issue

    Dear John,

According to our records, you recently notified us of an issue with your HELIX 10 CHIRP SI GPS G2N your HELIX unit rebooting after performing software update 1.840.

Thanks to a few customers, with the same issue, who helped us duplicate this issue, a resolution has been found. This issue actually resides in software version 1.640 which is the version previous to 1.840.

To resolve the rebooting issue, you will need to go back to software version 1.640 make a change in settings and then reload software version 1.840.

    • Downgrade to 1.640 - link below in the case you no longer have this version.
    • Turn off Auto Upload Data by making the following menu selections:
    • Main Menu > Accessories > i-Pilot Link Settings > Auto Upload Data > OFF
    • Upgrade to 1.840
    • Once you have completed the update to 1.840 you can now turn Auto Upload Data back to ON

    HELIX 10 CHIRP SI GPS G2N - Version 1.640 - https://879dd651a809fc1b59de-035169d...G2N_v1_640.bin

I have also included a link to 1.840 in the case you need this version again.

    HELIX 10 CHIRP SI GPS G2N - Version 1.840 - https://879dd651a809fc1b59de-035169d...G2N_v1_840.bin

If you know of anyone else who might have this issue, please pass the information along to them. If they have software needs that are not included in this email, we will gladly email a link that will work for their product beginning on Monday. Individuals not using I-Pilot Link at all or not using the Auto Upload Data feature with their I-Pilot link would never see this reboot issue.

We are so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We greatly appreciate your patience with us as we worked through this issue.

    Best Regards,

So, those that have not updated to 1.840 are good to do so or do we follow the instructions for those that are having problems first?

Resetting Defaults doesn't change the Auto Upload Data setting so you Reset Defaults before or after changing that setting but before inserting the SD card with the update. I powered on the Unit, turned on Ipilot/Link and waited for it to connect then changed the Auto Upload Data setting to Off. Next reset defaults and then inserted the SD card with the update.
Thanks cevans thanked you for this post
