My understanding is it gives the gps two points of reference for spot lock. One point in the finder and one in the puck. I put mine in the back of the boat in as straight of a line as I could.

Hey guys. Im just an amateur and would appreciate a little education. Bought a MK ritide terrova with Ipilot link. It came with a heading sensor. To me this just seems like a compass that the TM pairs with for orientation. Can anyone explain more clearly and how it will benefit in Practice. Thanks

If your using your spot lock and want to use the jog feature it is my understanding that the TM needs to know which direction the boat is facing as to which direction you want it to jog. The heading sensor is what that is for
Yep, it is very handy. "Calibrate" it and it works a little better.

Havent read the instructions to install yet. Hopefully they will tell how to “calibrate” it.

It is all in there. You'll need an old fashioned compass to install it.

sounds like its basically an electric compass that uses bluetooth to connect to the TM for an extra reference point to improve spot lock accuracy.

Yep, it's a compass. It is the heading reference for the jog function.

I just installed a new Terrova. Will it function like the older Terrova without hooking up the heading sensor? I slow troll and
seldom use the spot lock except for windy days while setting out my poles. Also, will my older remotes work on the new. Both
the older ones and the new one had IPilot. One more, will the foot control on the new Terrova work on the older one. Someone
help this poor ignorant soul.
