For those who have mounted transducer on something other than the Trolling Motor :
- How do you like it?
- Do you mainly open water fish?
- Problems with stumps / weeds /rocks?
Trying to figure out if something like this would be a good fit for me, looking for real world experience. I still beat the banks, if I hang a lure up, I go in and get it.
Thanks

What is really nice about rickies mount is if you need to get shallow just reach over and pull it up out of the water. Has folding bracket just like trolling motor.

I used one of these on my last boat. I was running Lowrance and a Terrova and didn't want to mount the transducer on the trolling motor.

I just installed on of these on my boat in the spring and I love it for spider rigging, trolling or pushing from the front of the boat. The trolling motor mounted transducer cable got ripped apart when trolling motor decided to do a 360 and got snagged.

My bow unit is mounted on the TM, an older Minnkota All Terrain cable drive.
As long as the TM skeg is lower than the transducer, it should be safe from damage.
I have bumped the motor on trees many times, never had a direct impact to the transducer.
Cable routing is not a big issue on cable or hand control units, it can be on electric steer motors that can run around and around.
