    Default Motorguide Xi5 SW 55 w/gps

I want to put this trolling motor on my aluminum pro crappie tracker. The one that comes with the boat is junk. My question for those who have one is this... can the shaft length be adjust on the Xi5 SW 55 with a 54 inch shaft? I known they make a 48 inch shaft but wanted some flexibility. I thought I read where it can be shorten by simply sliding the shaft up on the yoke. If so how much play is there. Thanks

It can be adjusted to any length. Infinite positions.

Adjustable slip collar you tighten down to set your depth. Just remember, the motor head may be pretty high if the shaft is too long. I would only see this being an issue with spider rigging. But you can simply adjust your rods so they sit to each side of it.

You'll see where several people have put handles on theirs. The more I use mine, the more I think I may do the mod myself.

I went ahead and ordered one. I’m feeling good about the money spent. Thanks to all for your input.

Just make sure and do the angle calibration when you first get it on the water. I didn't and my anchor mode was a bit wonky!

By angle calibration do you mean having the indicator on the head unit pointing in the same direction as the gps is tracking? I hope so. If not please educate me.

It's so the motorguide knows where parallel is in reference to the keel of the boat. It's basically so it knows what straight ahead is.

You will love the XI5. Directions are very easy in manual for the claibration.
