    Default Lake map card

I have a Bird Helix Mega 9 G2N Si. looking to add a lake map card to it for Kentucky and Barkley lakes. Which is the best card for the bird. Lake master Lake master Plus or Navonics. Thanks in advance.

Ive always had Lake master cards. I believe lake master plus adds some surrounding details on land (similar to google earth). Don't know anything about navonics.

I have found some areas on Ky and Barkley lakes that Navionics is better - and other areas LakeMaster is better ...

LakeMaster does add some extra features to HB mapping ...

I’ve been working through a similar decision myself for weeks, still haven’t pulled the trigger.

I like that Navionics pulls in & updates their maps from users’ actual on-water units and gives you free map updates for a year (think they call it “freshest data” or something to that effect). For my area (NW OK), Navionics maps a few more lakes as well, but neither company map a couple of the bigger lakes up this way (e.g., Sooner Lake, Lake Carl Blackwell). even though they’ve mapped small lakes right next door to them.

What I think I’d prefer about Lakemaster is with the right setup (G2N Humminbird networked to a capable MinnKota trolling motor with the right iPilot Link system), it’ll follow depth contours, go to waypoints, etc for you. I hear it’s pretty cool. Also, Lakemaster has their Chart Select option if it’s available for your particular lake...just buy the maps & overlays you want for your specific lakes at a reduced price & you’re done.

Neither one’s perfect, and like I said, I’m still in research mode as well.

Humminbird units can only use Navionics, Lakemaster, or in some units Autochart data. Follow the Contour can only be initiated from a compatible Humminbird unit with either Lakemaster or Autochart when using a Ipilot/Link model TM. It cannot be initiated with a Navionics map card or non Link model TM.
