I also need ideas of mounting the transducer for front without putting on the trolling motor. I want something small not bulky. Still debating on the trolling motor as I frequently hit bottom or stumps with it.
I have a 899ci and a 898 c. What info can be transferred between the Ethernet cable?
Will I have to have the external GPS puck for the 898?
Will the sonar work off one or both transducers?
Is the cable all I will need?

899ci (internal GPS) and 898c can share waypoints, accessories, and all Sonar ...
898 can use the external GPS either connected to itself or thru Ethernet if connected to the 899 ...
898 can also use the internal GPS in the 899 ...
Keep in mind that the chosen GPS antenna (in each unit's Ethernet Menu) should be as close as possible to the xducer being used for that unit for best waypoint accuracy ...
Sonar can be shared from either unit thru Ethernet ...
You will need the AS EC QDE for the 899 ...

Thanks Rickie. That will do what I need it to. I don't need dead on GPS accuracy. I mainly longline. Plan on upgrading to Bluetooth units soon but a friend gave me his old 898 when he upgraded. It would be nice if I can get through with these until the next big technology change. I figure I'm only a year or two away the way the market is going.
