I have asked this before and haven't gotten a clear answer. Will I see any difference in the GT- 52 transducer and the CV-52 while fishing in water less than 30' feet.Which one mounts on the trolling motor the best? Can you still find the GT-52 transducers? Thanks for any comments.....crappie1133

Yes you can still buy the GT 52. The main difference is the CV 52 transducer uses software for its down imaging. The GT 52 has a dedicated crystal for down imaging and for side imaging.

Will this make a huge difference ? Not really Humminbird used software on its older SI/DI units to generate the DI image. Humminbird started the dedicated DI crystal with the ONIX series. No one felt at a disadvantage back then that I am aware of.

What actually started the whole thing was a video ad by Lowrance. As they compared one of their top of the line newest MFD to one of Garmins older middle of the road MFDS.

Garmin users have posted videos of their units running the CV and GT. I presently have a GT 52 on my Garmin setup. But if it did have a CV52 I would be just as content.

In summation the GT is better but only if the finest of details means that much to you.

It appears the GT series is going to be available again soon. Don't have the release at hand to post. Something is probably on the Garmin site. Supposed to be something 'big' announced at the BM Classic too.
I agree with all that hays posted tho. Some others actually have both and say they see no difference - at least in the waters we are likely to be in depth-wise. Again, HB used it for years w/o an issue. Only when Low put out the vid that it got stinky.
