I paid what I thought was a lot of money for my HDS 8 GEN 2. I think this new update should work on it too. Guess I'm wrong though.

Downloaded yesterday afternoon. Wish there was more reading on what all was in it. So from what I can tell, fish reveal only works on DI. It has 2 color pallette settings, one for hard structure and one in the water column. Then you also have color cast and sensitivity ajustment for water column to tell fish from floating debris. Si and 3d got HD color scemes. Not gonna get a live test until saturday.

The technology you purchase is obsolete within 2 minutes of swiping your card! I've had the original structure scan with an HDS Gen 2, structure scan version 2 with HDS Gen 2, HDS Gen 2 touch, HDS gen 3 touch, and HDS Gen 3 touch with 3d structure scan. Two minutes after swiping the card, Carbon comes out!!!
Sometimes, these updates come out in order to drives sales of their latest products. Which of course is only because they are making room for the equipment that will come out 2 minutes after you swipe your card! In other words, I wouldn't run out and purchase a Carbon right now. Seems to me like they are trying to drive up sales of current models by introducing something that isn't available on older models. Why do they want to sell the Carbons? To make room for the new model they probably have coming out in the near future. Good marketing I guess.
I'm not a bird user (never have been) but I'm curious if they have near as many updates as we do with the Lowrance products?
