    Default Si/di newbie question

Only had one di before mounted on the transom in an old boat I sold so not much experience here. If you were to mount say and si or di on the trolling motor would you need to keep it pretty steady straight to get a good picture. I mean while I’m trolling or drifting I know I’m always moving my trolling motor back and forth to keep in line of where I want to fish and compensate for the wind. Wouldn’t the picture be all jumpy?

As Schins mentions there will be skewing when turning the TM ... but you will learn to recognize it in the SI image and just try to minimize drastic turns when you need the data not skewed ...

The image below has a section of major skewing from turning the TM ... but I knew there was nothing in the section of detail that was important ...

What about Di would it be skewed to or would it be better because it’s still shooting down? Is there a better way to mount the transducer or it’s the norm on the trolling motor like the old style without di or si? Thanks!!!

Generally speaking , most do not want si on the trolling motor . DI would not be effected as much on the trolling motor . JMO.

The norm is on the Trolling Motor. Their are several options out their, to compensate for this.

I'm an odd ball... I like side imaging on my trolling motor. I never had it until last year, but opted for it when I switched brands and got a new electronics setup. I crappie fish and bass fish and it has good aspects for each. When fishing a brush top...from a distance... I will turn the trolling motor head to scan out front or slowly sweep to the side to make sure I know where the brush top still is (when I don't use a marker). When bass fishing I like to drift down the banks, a little ways off from the bank, and keep the side scanning the bank aimed a little forward of my position (as much as I can between steering) to get a sneak peak of some cover or structure, or sometimes fish, that is coming up. Kind of a poor man's 360 I guess. I have found a lot more good fishing places this way though. But its just another tool to have.

Ultimately though.... I want to add the 360 to my setup.... It will compliment the way I fish a lot and I'm looking forward to adding it this spring.
