    Default Will it work???

Thinking of getting another sonar unit and mounting the transducer on the stern (left side). Will this cause interference or static. Already have transducer on the right side of the stern. Since they are by the same maker, will this help. Thanks guys......With this weather bad, nothing to do but WISH AND PLAN for when the weather does break.........thanks again, hold tight, spring is on the way......crappie1133

I think you will get interference from each other. The transducers send a some what up side down cone shape sound down to the bottom that bounces back to the transducer when the two transducers sound are close they try to read the other transducers sound and you will get cross talk(sound interference) which will make the units do some crazy stuff.

If each unit has the capability to set the transmitters to the opposing frequency choice, there should be no Crosstalk interference ...

HB units cannot shut off the 200kHz transmit - Lowrance/Simrad can - Garmin and Raymarine I do not know ...

Rickie if one is set to 83 & the other is set to 200 (HB) will they still have cross talk

Correct ... No Crosstalk if frequency choice is different in each unit ...

Crosstalk interference happens when more than 1 unit is transmitting the same frequency and the units are receiving echoes from the opposing unit ... and each unit doesn't know what to do with the echo data from the other unit's transmit cycle ...

Remember - HB cannot shut off the 200kHz transmit ...

The "other" brand unit must be capable of shutting off their 200kHz and transmit only the 83kHz (77kHz on some Garmin I think) ...
    -----

Imaging Frequency follows the same = 1 unit on 455kHz and the other unit on 800kHz ...

I been running two units in the back for years, have a 1199 and a 859 ,I get very little crosstalk and that is only in water 30 or more feet, have one on right side other on left side, can run 30 mph and pick up a brushpile at that speed or see fish at that speed as well as shad which anyone can see at that spreed, took awhile to get it all adjusted right
