Default ultrex questions transducer placement questions

I have been running a terrova for a few years now. I really like the spotlock feature. I understand it has improved on newer MK units. But I am not fond of the deploy/stow method. I am considering the ultrex.

Any feedback on the ultrex from those that own them? I’m also interested in information on how it has worked out with mounting an external transducers on the bottom of the TM.

Can you mount the transducer the same way you would on a regular cable steer unit or does it have the same problematic issues that the terrova has?

I have a newer Ulterra model and the spot lock is great. I use the cable saver from https://www.cornfieldcrappiegear.com...e/cable-save-r and it works great to keep and protect the TD cable when mounted on the TM. I will say that I broke the TD wings that connect the clamp but it was 100% my fault. Ricky makes an inexpensive fix for when those situations.

    Default ULTREX

Thank you. So it sounds like the same issue exists with pinching and breaking cables that is present with the terrova? I was hoping the ultrex would have the same limits of rotation as the cable steer units and I wouldn't have to worry about more than 360 degrees of rotation.

Ultrex has about 270° of rotation stop to stop ...

Had terrova and now have ultrex with transducer mounted on both. The shaft on ultrex does not slide up and down thru base when deploying or stowing like terrova. I installed transducer just like you would on cable steer. Strapped to motor with cable strapped to shaft. Gets a little tricky around hinged part on base. Had it over a year now, no problems. Love the ultrex!

Happy Ultrex owner here. The spot lock works pretty good - especially once you get the boat scale dialed in.

As far as the cables, I also have a 360 attached to it. I have all the cables bundled within a mesh sleeve of sorts. I'll take a pic and post later.

I have an Ultrex with an external transducer mounted to it (mega). I love the motor and have had zero troubles with routing the transducer cable. Just leave enough loop at top of shaft to allow it to rotate to each directions limit, same as a regular cable steer. I have seen several report that they have routed the transducer cable down the wiring jacket to the foot pedal without the usual interference issues, but I did not try it. I ran my cable down the mount with no issues so far after a year.

Thank you. Looking forward to taking a look at the photos of the cable routing.
