Side imaging problems

I'm running a helix 9 gen2 and when I'm on side scan and pick something up I can't find it after I mark it. I'm only scanning 40 feet both ways. Where do I start on correcting this problem?

It's important to mark structure in the SI image by placing the waypoint at the point where the structure seems to touch the bottom ...



Then reposition the boat and approach the waypoint watching 2d ...

If the structure does not come into the 2d image = immediately switch back to SI to see which side of the boat the structure passed by ...

Readjust- reposition- and repeat ...

Once the structure is definitely located - drop another waypoint on the correct spot and delete the initial waypoint ...
