Do you have another HB station on the boat you could test this head unit on its power connection ...??

I have a Helix 9 at the console. I thought about that and will try it next time I go to the lake.

If you know the wiring is correct.......proper gauge.......good connections......would take good look at battery.

After 4 hrs of playing with the new Mega 9” it would shut down, and I would restart it and it would run a few minutes and shut down a second time. Started the motor and turned it back on and never shut down again. Motor was charging the battery. Got home, yanked the 3 going on 4 yrs old battery and replaced it with a new one late this afternoon.

I was having this same problem with a new unit, turned out to be the power cable.

One more thing. Even though your wiring and connections may be good, they also have to be of the correct gauge to supply the unit with the power it needs, power is amperage, voltage is just force.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

I pulled the power from the wire that works the tilt from the front of the boat. I will check the wire gauge of that wire and maybe try to fish a new wire from the battery with an inline fuse to it. Battery is new and works everything else hooked to it fine.

Thats part of what I was getting at. Make sure even the butt connectors and all other terminal connections are the correct size and have a good round crimp. Humminbird pc connectors have 18ga wire. You can't make a good splice 18ga to 12ga. I tried....

It is super important to run dedicated wiring to the starting battery, not the trolling batteries. When you use power that is already available you have no clue what all it is feeding. I have some interference on my front unit and running a dedicated feed to it is on my "to do list"

These things are sensitive. Make sure that you are using the correct gauge HB recommends for your unit for the distance. They recommend some big gauges even though their power wire is small when you get some distance involved.
