    Default Xi5 and Lowrance hds

If am using an Xi5 with a HDS gen 3 , and navigate to a waypoint, and use the
anchor function on the HDS , which gps will the rules the XI5 ?

Is it my imagination or does the xi5 work better off the handheld remote to
hold a spot , than off a waypoint on the graph. ?

Third , if it is working off the HDS, will the external gps antenna make it hold closer ?

    thanks

I am getting real close to ordering the XI5 for my boat. I am running a Gen2 9 touch. Interested in what you get for replies to this question.
Crappie spawning and morels popping up at the same time. What was God thinking when he made that schedule. It's pure torture every spring deciding which to do.

I have tried it both ways and mine seems to hold the same and go to the waypoints the same. I believe you can go into the settings on the Gen3 and pick which gps the pinpoint uses unless I'm mistaken. Think i did it and I honestly couldn't tell you which one it uses. I was having problems and my settings were messed up. After 10 minutes on phone with Motorguide it was fixed and haven't had a problem since besides it getting a mind of its own every once in awhile. If you are talking about a point 1 antenna I don't believe it would make a difference because the Gen3 has the same gps basically as the point 1 just doesn't have heading sense. You do have to do things in the setting on the Gen3 with the pinpoint to make it anchor when it gets to the waypoint. If not it will just keep going.

I think I have my mind right on this set up.
If you use the hds to control the TM , it sends the gps data to the trolling motor for the anchor spot. It will then use the
gps in the TM adjust back the the way point in anchor mode.

I installed a Point one over the transom transducer for the console unit. This should let me mark stuff I am seeing on the
console more accurately then using the internal gps antenna ( console is about 10 ft from transom).

I love pulling up to a spot , make 3 touches , and let the TM work , just sit back and fish.

Size: 60.1 KBI have my point 1 directly under my feet and close as possible to my Xi5. I use the Nmea system so i can use the antenna on the hds on the console to set a waypoint, then use the point 1 to hone in when im on the bow spider rigging since it transfers the data to the front unit. I can use the point 1 on the console to accurately drive over a waypoint to see if fish are on structure from past trips
