    Default Anybody using Panoptix?

Garmin has a rebate on right now for a Panoptix and Echomap combo. I already bought an Echomap for the bow so I'm considering the PS21. I crappie fish all year chase sandies and hybrids all summer especially top water in mornings and evenings and do some catfishing also. If you have one how do you use it and how well do they work. Some of the videos I've seen are impressive.

I don`t have a Panoptix but to have considered buying and am always looking at all the info on them. There is some info on this site but I also look at the Garmin thread on the BBC site as there are many articles about the Panoptix unit there. If you are not familiar with that site it is bassboatcentral.com. Good luck with your searching.

I'm thinking it would be the "cat's meow" for schooling fish. You could follow them as they move around and easily stay within casting distance. Not sure whether mounting it on the trolling motor or a down rod like Ricky has would be better. I would also want to keep my other xducer up front also. The YouTube video called "Garmin Panoptix for Suspended Crappie" is what made me start thinking about it. It's really impressive if you haven't seen it.

Rickie by using your apparatus for the Panoptix wouldn't that eliminate the possible interference from the trolley motor?

It certainly would help by adding distance between the xducer and the TM ...

Following, Rickie, sounds like you are working on something exactly like what I need. I dont want to mount to my terrova, but also want to be able to run it off the rear, maybe like a qd mount. Please keep us posted, as I am holding off on purchase until I find the RIGHT mounting option. Not gonna rig up something that expensive half way
