I'm probably wrong but I here it's best to match your scroll speed to your boat speed. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than myself will chime in
Just wondering how fast do you set the scroll speed on your fish finder? Or do you use different speeds for different situations? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the quick replies! And appreciate the help. I have a Garmin unit, so I'll have to find out what the recommended settings for it are.

Thanks, just want to make sure I'm getting all the good out of my little fish finder.
For me when I am running Hbird SI I do not follow the general rule match SI with boat speed. For me I do not care what is on the bottom or what it is, I look for fish and fish only. When looking for Panfish Crappies any smaller type fish I will speed up my chart speed in SI. For me it makes it easier to see the white marks of fish, it will elongate them some. Once I find fish I will then slow chart speed to match boat speed, come from different angles to find why the fish are where they are.
