Dang, I was hoping someone had an answer to this. I am thinking about this as well...

I'm thinking of purchasing the new MK Terrova 55lb i-pilot for my 16ft basstracker. I'm curious if anyone has tried it out yet and what their thoughts are? I owned the previous version Terrova and my only gripe is how loud the electric steering is. The new 2017 Terrova is supposed to have a redesigned quieter steering mechanism, can anyone attest to this? How loud is the steering compared to the previous version Terrova or the Motorguide Xi5 ?
Thanks for any help/input!

I can not offer a comparison for the loudness, but I just bought a Riptide Terrova 80 for my jon boat. I have took it out once, and the steering is pretty quiet. I can hear it when I am at the front of the boat, but not when I am at the back. Doesn't seem to be a problem to me, but I have only used it once, and it is 100x better than the one I replaced. The 80 lb will pull my 18ft xpress around 3mph with gear and 2 people on the highest setting.

I can't give you a comparison to between models either, but I just installed a 2017 model and the motor noise doesn't seem excessive at all. The spot lock feature is awesome. New and improved from what I've read. The spot lock has kicked out on me twice for no apparent reason. I just pressed the anchor button again and it went right back to holing the boat there.
One thing I will say is, that with the new lift assist spring pack on the shaft you can't run the transducer cable through the notch on the shaft if you're want di in the tm.
cornfieldcrappiegear has the fix to mount the transducer on the trolling motor.
