A buddy of mine bought a echomap73sv a little while back, he installed it headed to the water and called Garmin while on the water, they asked him a few questions and walked him through settings and his screen is very vivid.

He said they have an exceptional tech department and couldn't be happier...I'm sure someone will chime in with their settings.

I use the 93sv chirp unit. I find that using a blue bckgrnd on 2d shows everything well and less is likely to show interfence (should you have any) quite as much as the white. On sv and dv I use the inverse gray pallette color mostly. Seems to work best/better in more conditions for me. I run my gain up just a bit, contrast I leave at default. Scroll speed toward the faster side slightly. Default settings work pretty darn good, but any unit can be optimized by tweaking a few things. Just do it one at a time, return if you don't see what you want. Stop fishing long enough to go over some known areas and play with it until you are happy. Keep in mind conditions change, and it does effect readings. Record some of your trips on your micro sd card and replay on the HomePort thru Garmin on your computer. You can make a lot of adjustments there while at home. Helped me. Talk to techs. They are very sharp, nice and someone is always there within about four rings.

I am using a Echomap 73sv and was wondering what the best settings would be when using clearvu while crappie fishing?

I am running a 93sv/73dv, good little units for the money. I don't catch any more or less fish than when I ran Hbird core series units. Here are some screenshots from last couple weeks, I don't play fishfinder much but will try and take more for the guys interested in Garmin.

    fish, thx for the thread

pab, thx for the screen shots. Ran HB for quite some time and going to trying the EM chirp 73sv...should be here tomorrow so I'm sure the learning curve will start then. Enjoyed the HB, just want to try this and see what it has to offer. This one will be mounted on a kayak instead of the boat though. Can't wait!
