These are images from the 93sv. What I found that works best is keep the side imaging around the 80 to 100 ft range. It will be a lot clearer and more detailed. If you go out to the 300 ft range you have to increase the brightness so much it will white out all the closer objects. Great units and easy to set up. Garmin tech support is great if you are having problems. Better to call them while you are on the water.

The CV52HW, as opposed to GT52HW that came on mine, is a slightly different ducer to get around the litigations--or so I have been told. I have no idea what the difference is, evidently according to TimY's pics it is a good deal. Very nice pics. 3 mph seems like a great speed for yours. I never get that fast as I am TM only. I really like the returns I get also. You ddn't mention, but are you mostly default?

As for sv range, a lot of folks recommend 4-5 times the depth you are in. IDK. I usually go with 40-50 feet--bout a good cast to either side.

The 93sv is US maps. Forget what Canada is, and the coastals. One is 94 and one 95.

Great pics. Thanks for posting those.

I think if you would go to page 20 on your booklet--at least that is the page in my 93sv book--and look for "Adjusting the Level of Detail" you may get the info you want. From a/any SONAR screen MENU to either GAIN or BRIGHTNESS. Depends on whether you are on a 2d screen (GAIN) or dv/sv (BRIGHTNESS). I may be incorrect but I think any adjustment to these settings effects the other two. Or if you increase GAIN on 2d you are also increasing BRIGHTNESS on dv/sv. Not positive about that tho. Some run the BRIGHTNESS up to wash-out stage and then backoff to what they like. Thing about it is you must alway be willing to make adjustments depending on conditions to optimize the sonar. I don't always take advantage of this however.

That is pretty much what I posted in the other thread what he asked the same question. These little units run pretty well in auto or default. I haven't done as much tweaking as I did on my Humminbird core units.
