    Default New Helix update.

WOW the new update for Helix units. 12/3/16 sure made everything so much better. SI and DI is so much clearer along with Adding a few more items..
Helix10SI GPS V1 350 Bin Added that to my 10 SI and updated the I-Pilot link. And today was like having both new. It make SI and DI so much better, but also Gives me more options on the SI that I did not have. Along with the I-Pilot link spotlock being 3X better then before the update.

Just updated mine too. Havnt got to use it on the water yet but I can already tell I like what I'm seeing. The plus and minus buttons being sensitivity now is really helpful. Have you played with the imaging switch fire yet on the water? It really seams to show the detail in sim mode on max and scaling down the sensitivity a bit.

Switchfire on SI will make your head swim. Took me a while to get used to seeing all the extra detail. It shows bottom harness so much better. Made creek channels and small ditches jump out at you. Fish show you better also. Where before I could see the fish, but had to know what they were. Now its sharp and detailed over the old.
One stump yesterday showed 5 fish on it. Caught 2 yellow bass and a keeper crappie. Went back over it when I was leaving the spot. And it showed 2 fish left. That was a single 2ft tall stump in 18ft of water. It was sitting right on the creek channel drop. Has held a better sized crappie all fall. If I get out of the Eye doctor fast today. 10am Appointment. Hope to hit the lake by noon today also. Will snap a few pics of the unit between the Switch-fire and normal.

That would be great! The lakes are starting to freeze here and I have water in my lower unit, so I won't be able to use it until spring. :

Sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to all of this. I have a helix 9 so is it upgradable and if so how do I upgrade it?

Here's how you update. It's pretty easy. http://www.humminbird.com/Category/S...eUpdateSD-MMC/

I am excited to try out the new update on the water. I uploaded it and played with my settings and views to get everything back the way i like it. I have one concern though, it froze on the first start up after the update. I fired right back up, i played with it for about 10 minutes, and then it abruptly shut off. Anyone had any issues with their units after the update? The battery i installed to test doesnt hold a charge very well but should have had enough charge to pull 1.0 amp for ten minutes. Didnt get any low voltage alarms. If it was the battery i am glad it didnt shut off during the update!

There are reports of screens freezing after the new update ... (and some other odds and ends bugs) ...

But it still could be a low power issue that may need to be addressed ...
