I am disappointed that there isn't an upgrade path. The least they could do is offer a coupon $500.00 off or something to the loyal customer that bought the first spot lock.
Lonnie, at my age, I buy what improves my quality of life. Since my life evolves around water, it is a natural response to seek that what improves my pleasures of life.
The above comment sounds good, even to me.

Me to, on a upgrade for my older model. Not $1500.00.
To me it seems to be the "norm" now days with Johnson Outdoors products. Just like with software issues. I'm gonna have a hard time justifying anything from them next time I'm ready to upgrade. I've spent a ton of money on SI fishfinders (1198 and 898) that I fought software issues/upgrades with. $1800 on a Terrova/w Spot Lock that litteraly JERKS my boat around the lake I don't think it has ever truly worked right.
As a 40yr old dad with a family these are major purchases and I can't afford to just buy new. I would be happy with some sort of upgrade kit that I could swap out.

These new units are new technology---not compatible with the old technology. There has been quite a gap between TM next gen units. I sold my old Terrova 112 and now am upgrading to the new Ultrex. I don't see how this should anger people, it been a long time since they have upgraded into a next Gen unit. Technology always moves forward.
Maybe it is something they will offer later ..... Sure seems like they could set up a kit to change out the entire trolling motor head if they need to .... The motor is just a motor.

I never had to many issues myself but, have heard the tales of others. The new one is supposed to be the best on the market---can't wait.
I have an Ulterra that is a year old. MK told me no upgrade for this unit to the new GPS spotlock. They suggested I sell mine and buy a new model. This is pure B/S.
