I've only had mine for a few weeks but it seems to adjust the speed to what's necessary to hold you there depending on wind/current. I need more time to play with it/learn but I love the spot lock for river fishing. Should have bought one years ago.
This is not really an electronics question but wasn't sure where else to put this one...? Anyhow, see below.
I've had a MK Terrova 80# thrust for ~ 2 yrs now. First one I've ever had. My boat is a 17'-8" polar kraft deep V with pretty high sides. Anyhow, my question for other Terrova owners: When you engage the spot lock and start to drift off the spot you locked on does your motor turn on full power to correct and get you back to spot? I'd rather it engage and SLOWLY power up to get back to the spot. If you are still fishing (dropshotting for example) it makes it difficult. Is there anything that can be done about that?

My terrova did the same thing until I updated it.
Check for updates.
Mine is 3 or 4 years old and it adjusts the speed to suit. If you are only a few yards off and the wind is light it returns slowly, but if it kicks in and the wind is pushing you further away it boosts the power to overcome the drift.
If you hit the return to a stored anchor point it jumps to full power. I wish that was controllable but it isn't on mine.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
I'm pretty sure all software is updated to latest/greatest.

MinnKota is releasing the new models with "Improved Spot Lock". They should be available by Christmas.
The drifting too far and then overcompensating to get back, overshooting the mark, then overcompensating again etc etc etc has been my only complaint about my Terrova since I bought it. I will say, it does work pretty good in a little bit of current though.
I'll be looking to upgrade to a newer model next year. I hear they will have bluetooth capability and you can even control them from your smartphone with an app. Sounds intriguing.

If you happen to have the foot peddle speed on 10, it will also do that. Only had it on mine a week. And it has done this 3 times, all were when I had the foot peddle on 10. If I have it dialed down to say 3 or 4, it starts slow.

I bought a Terrova i-Pilot link when they first come out and I had the same problem but after updating i-Pilot Link Remote and Controller the problem isn't as severe. When I poster about updates I truly believed that I had updated the terrova but after searching I didn't fine anything so I guess I was wrong.

I know this is a different subject but it seems like it is some very knowledgeable Terrova people on here. My question is any one know how to pair a micro remote to I-pilot link?
