    Default Minn Kota Pontoon

I bought a Minn Kota Power Drive V2 pontoon this year that I have a question about. I took a trip to Beaver lake this year and the motor stopped turning the prop. The unit would turn left/right but no drive. I took it back to Gander Mountain and they exchanged it with no questions asked. Now 3 months later, same thing has happened with the new one. When it happened the first time, I just assumed it had blown a fuse in the head. Before I take it back again to exchange it I figured I'd ask if anyone had had similar problem, or had any suggestions. I hate to think this is a reoccurring problem with such a reputable company.

If U are using a foot pedal, clean it good with a water hose or stick foot pedal in the lake and wash it good. Probably dirty. It happens.

I thought that it was the pedal the first time it happened so I cleaned that one out with no effect, then went ahead and bought a new pedal, no dice. I'll try to spray this one out with a hose and see if that helps though.

Also check the circular connector to the foot pedal. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting helps. The v2 foot pedal is crap, so I built my own foot pedal(s) using industrial grade foot switches. No failures in 10 years.

Sorry off topic but, Cane Pole..................................I don't even know what to say! Your mind must be brilliant! How do ya sleep at night! My mind runs ALL night long sometimes its exhausting when I'm trying to come up with an invention and the best thing I have come up with is drilling a hole thru a baseball so I can attach it to my fishing pole so when my son hits it I don't have to walk to go get it, I just reel it in!

I owe it all to the US Navy where I got extensive training, especially from a Gunners Mate Chief named Jandersholvitz at China Lake and also at the Pacific Missile Range Pt Mugu Cal. Made college a breeze.

I always credit the Navy and not the college. The Navy took me off the Dirt farm where I was born and replaced my cotton sack and hoe with a Cruise Missile.

    You're one smart cookie Tim.

Any person that would dispute that fact is a pure fool.

I have that model and have had the same issue since I owned it the last couple years. I replaced the foot pedal with the electric hand control and it helped some. It seems the prop will stop turning at the worst time. I just pull it up out of the water and it will start turning or pull it and give it a bump......it will stop for a couple hours and hang up again. I mostley troll with it and if its left running its never a issue........been a pain sometimes I just haven't had time to send it off and I'm not sure they could figure it out anyway.

I disconnected the circuit breaker and reconnected the same one and everything works. Doesn't explain why I only lost power to the prop, but it would still turn the motor, but who knows.

My apologies Tom, evidently I am still learning to spell.

The older I get the better my proof reading seems to become.
