    Default Boat Speed for SI

What boat speed do you usual run when using Side Imaging? I figure slower is better but wondering what most people have found to be the best speed?

3-5 mph for me. It just happens to be where my big motor likes to idle.

I've seen SI images from as high as 40mph (with not much detail) ...

I get good results even down to "real slow" ...

Match Chart Speed to boat speed ...

My boat won't go 40 mph. However, my transducer is bolted to the bottom of my boat (got rid of rooster tail and engine blockage issues) and I git some good looks at 20mph. Rough water, well it is a different story.

455 has more coverage than 800 .... the strength of the 800 Khz signal dissipates a lot quicker than 455.

Yes 455kHz has more range - with less detail = better for seeing all the way to the edge of the display ...

800kHz has more detail - with less range = better for discerning stuff right under the boat ...

I use each - for what it does best - (dependent on if I want to see detail under the boat ... Or if I want to find stuff farther away from the boat) ...
