Unless you go with the Onix units, it is necessary to have a map card in each unit......The Onix will share mapping.
I fish on the same lake, which is offered as a "Chart Select" lake by HB, I am looking at installing 2 H'birds networked one at console and one at bow would I need to have 2 map cards one for each unit? Also, if I was to go with the "Smart Strike" card instead would there be any need to have the Ch-Select card wouldn't that just be the same info??

Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile.
Chart Select is 1 lake per SD Card ...and can't be copied to any other card except the SD Card that was "Encripted" ... This SD Card is now a regular Lakemaster map card with all the functionality of a store bought Lakemaster card ...but with only 1 lake's map data ...
SmartStrike is a regular regional Lakemaster card ...with all the functionality of a regular LakeMaster card ...with the added capability of custom search functionality with user input in a new menu added to the unit with the SmartStrike card inserted ...
Regardless of which Lakemaster product used = only ONIX can share any mapping data (as Bob mentions) ...
Any LakeMaster product card (regional, SmartStrike, Chart Select created) can be removed from 1 unit and used in another unit ...(just not shared across Ethernet in core units) ...

I forgot to mention ... Some units need a certain software level to use the SmartStrike or Chart Select created Lakemaster product cards
