Prayer Request Ants in my foot control for a Terrova

I found a huge “ant colony” inside the foot control for my Terrova.
    Ants were everywhere.
I use a vacuum cleaner as I tapped the foot control to shack out most the ants.
I set the foot control on 2 bars of lavender scented soap overnight.

Today the ants are gone but I having problems with the foot control.
The momentary go / prop is always on.
    Everything else seems OK

Any ideas on a fix I can try?

Or is there a way I can disable the food control so the i-PILOT Remote will work?

Thanks and sorry about the long post.

It's probably not working because that switch is staying on. Try disconnecting pedal and see if it dosnt work. Then look at pedal and see if you can pull that switch. Maybe some found there way into the switch and have it shorted.

I believe they(foot switches) are magnetic proximity switches. Look and see if the switch is partially down. Wash the foot pedal out with water.

You can take the foot pedal apart and look to see if the magnet is in place or the plastic holder is hosed.

I disconnected the foot control. I-Piolet works OK now.
I'm not real sure what screws on the bottom to remove.
Just don't want to make it worst / not get it back together correctly.
Since we are Leaving Friday for MN fishing trip for "fish with teeth",
I may just wait on trying to disassemble the foot control till we get back..
    Thanks Rick.

Just remember lavender scented soap really does work to repel ants.

Banging the foot pedal to get the ants out may have loosened the magnet.

Most likely that is what happened.
Is there a problem removing all the screws on the bottom of the foot control?
    Thanks Rick

How old is it? Minn Kota's CS is pretty good... At the very least they may cut you a deal on a new pedal, then you can work on this one when you have time. Always nice to have a spare anyways.

    Good luck fishing.
Just curious. Did you get rid of the ants in your vacuum cleaner?
Why were there ants in your boat in the first place? Been eating on deck or what?
