Default Seeing fish on LR Elite 7

I am newbie to finders but after a long chat with the guys at Lowrance, I got my elite 7 dialed in and was finding brush piles. I am having a hard time locating fish on the DI. How do you guys distinguish fish from other dots when using the downscan? Here are some pics I took of some brush for example.

Unless you get a picture like this :

.... you basically have to assume that the larger white dots are fish of some kind. You may try to zoom in and see if those dots are displayed better & can be identified as "fish".

Your middle pic is the only one that I see where I could assume fish to be showing, and those are the larger white dots at around the 15ft depth across the screen.

the first would not intrest me ,they may be small bass ,but for crappies ,it should be more and closer bunch up.the last pic the tree still have leaves on it so cannot tell if it has many crappies until they get on top or side of it ,would throw a jig in it even throw if they are there they are not in a feeding mood and will need a little coaching in the brush to see if they are there

    My settings are:
    Contrast: Auto
    Surface clarity: Low
    800 Khz

I am very new to these so I am figuring this out as I go. I hear guys that say they can tell what kind of fish they are, but all I can see is white dots. I suppose they are looking at the location in regards to the brush, as to whether they are crappie or bass. I was trying to find shad with this finder the other day and was not having any luck. I see some prop wash from motoring around, but have yet to clearly locate shad and baitfish. Any help is appreciated.

WELL ,NO ONE CAN TELL YOU WHAT KIND OF FISH BY JUST SEEING A FISH ON UNIT HOWEVER KNOWING A FISH HABIT ONE CAN MAKE A GOOD GUEST,BY KNOWING THE LAKE,HOW THEY STACK UP ,WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED,EXAMPLE,IN A BREAM BED,YOU SEE WHITE DOTS ,WE WOULD SAY THEY ARE BREAM AND WOULD BE 99 % RIGHT. AS FOR SHAD,DO YOUR LAKE HAVE MANY IF SO RUN BIG ENGINE WITH 2D ON AND WHEN YOU SEE A BLOG TURN AROUND AND GO OVER IT WITH DI

As you can see by my screenshot, I run my Lowrance Elite 5DSI unit in the blu/white setting at 800kHz .... mainly because I can get better image definition and a wider field of coverage. I've seen my jig & 1/2oz weight in the screen image, Shad so thick it tricked the unit into thinking the top of the school was the bottom of the lake, small & loose schools of Shad, and "fish" images that most likely were large catfish.

I believe that in the middle picture of the three you posted, there is a small pod of baitfish in the 10-15ft depth range around the middle right of the screen, and possibly another just to the left of that one & just above your screen cursor. You'll likely start seeing more and bigger schools as the water temps rise.

The things inside the green look like fish to me. Also in red almost looks like a thermocline trying to develope which is strange for it to b that depth and setting up with the water temp that's on ur screen. Notice u see nothing below the red line. Or it cud b a high density plankton area but looks like a thermocline to me!
