Default SI Transom Transducer Location (Please Help)

I mounted my HB SI transducer high because I fish shallow a lot and I wanted it somewhat protected. I am always bouncing, dragging or scraping on rock or timber. Now I am tired of it cutting out at higher speeds. I could use some advice on optional mounting locations and/or devices.
    Its a 1996 Nitro 170 TF.

go to "PODUNKIDEAS.COM get yourself a "DA'DUCER mount it on the rear or front of the boat you can adjust the depth from 1 inch to what ever it'll reach down. Designed mostly for getting the 'ducer off the trolling motor, but would work just as well on the back

For protection, I've heard good things about this protector, but don't know if you'll get better high speed read with it or not. Some boats just don't have a good location for high speed sonar.

I would think the best thing would be to get a splitter cable and mount a shoot through transducer in the bilge. This would protect your high dollar sidescan transducer and give you 2d readings while on plane.

Thank you. I like the look of it. Is there any spring back to it?

Good idea. I did ponder getting a thru hull flasher and just mounting it in the dash but I don't know anything about them.
I will look into the splitter idea. Thank you. Splitter cable is 30$ wonder what the HB thu hull transducer would run?

Vary informative. I will have to see the cost of a 2d thru hull transducer. Thank you.
