Thread: Humminbird Lakemaster ChartSelect

I've got an 1197 but haven't done the chart select .... If you give it a shot let us know.

I'm pretty sure you can use the Chart Select mapping on your 1197 ...

But I don't think you can "Encrypt" the SD Card on your 1197 to be able to prepare the SD Card for downloading a Chart Select map from HB ...

I think you will need access to a xx8 model (with newer software) to "Encrypt" the SD Card for downloading the map from HB ...

Then after "Encrypting" the SD Card, installing the Chart Select download tool to your PC, and downloading the specific Chart Select lake to the SD Card ... Then the SD Card is a regular LakeMaster map card ...but with only 1 lake on it ...

It seems my thought is correct ...

The 1197 can read the Chart Select map downloaded to the user's SD Card ...

But the SD Card must be "Encrypted" on a xx8 or xx9 series unit to prepare the SD Card for downloading the Chart Select lake map from HB ...

It's my understanding that the "Encrypt" menu selection under the Setup tab will not show in the Main Menu System until you actually insert a SD Card into the unit ...

Then once the "Encryption" is done go to Humminbird.com, create a Chart Select account (which is different from your actual HB account) ...and follow directions to get the Chart Select download tool on your PC ...

A Chart Select account is needed to purchase the single maps thru the website ...
