    Default OK HUMMINGBIRD GURUS

If you were gonna buy a new unit today, which would it be and why..

HB 1199ci HD SI- one of the combos that are on sale now cause they are going to be discontinued or... the new Helix 9 SI Sonar/gps combo.

Is there anything one will do better than the other. I now run an older 597 with map card and I'm looking to upgrade. 1199 is the top end of what I'm willing to spend but everyone says bigger is better. What are your opinions?

    Thanks

Do the new helix units have the dreaded "donut" at slow trolling speeds like from the past ?
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Helix and Core Networking - YouTube. The person narrating mistakenly calls the unit on the right side an onix.It acually is a helix 10

Question...my current set up runs off of the transducer on my i pilot. I have it set up for front and rear transducer and I just move the unit back and forth. Am I correct that I will need a different transducer to get HD at the bow. If so, would it mount to the TM shaft or would it be better to mount it on as a stand alone that would have to be deployed separately.

The HD is in reference to the mapping and screen brightness. Not really much difference between HD and non hd. The hd maps have more info on them and look really good. More detail!

I would consider the Helix 10 instead of the Helix 9. The 10 is bigger and comes standard with the HDSI transducer. You have more options with the data boxes with the Helix.
