BobB, I have a 998 that I have had for 5+ years (1694hrs) decided to go with the fire sale on the 999's. I guess I have not had the problem (Data Box Issue) or did not know what it was. Please explain. Thanks in Advance!

Are you talking about the data box being on the left? Not the Bottom?

998 to 999 I know my 998 would support 14 accessories, my new 999 I think is 7. But this old eyes need the brighter screen.

Yes, the data boxes on the left side of the screen take up a lot of real estate......There is a fix for this in the current Helix models.

I think Humminbird also eliminated some of the accessories in the newer software releases for the 98 series.

If the Helix 9 is the same as the other Helix, it will have an even brighter screen than the 999. The Helix 7 has a higher NIT rating.

Bob, you DO know that the xx9's have the ability to turn off all data boxes on a non-NAV screen, right?
When in NAV - you're still stuck with COG and SPD though.
With more than one display, it's not an issue though.

Yeah, but with the Helix fix, you can still have the data, but not loose the real estate.
