Prayer Request Lowerance Elite 7 Chirp

I just installed one of these yesterday. Took it out for a test drive this AM. Took awhile to figure out how to get it off demo and simulator. The manual would probably work for emergency toilet paper. Not good for much else. After I got it off demo and simulator it was awesome. At least the DSI and Chirp were the GPS was another story. After getting out of the Demo and simulation mode all I get is a map of USA That does help. You never know how far off course youve drifted. All kidding aside if anyone can straighten out a red neck timberfaller it would be greatly appreciated. BTW their customer service is only open week days. Guess I was the only one using their products on the week end.

I don't know if this will be of any help, but :

when you get the USA map when using the GPS map screen .... use the - or + buttons to zoom down and then the arrow > button to move the crosshairs (cursor) to your state waters.

Now that you know how to get out of simulator/demo mode, do that and then turn the unit off. When you turn the unit back on, it should take it a moment to find your current location, and once it does THEN turn the map screen on and it should be showing your location correctly.

There may also be a setting that you can click on that will take your GPS location to the current location, whether you are home or on the lake. I have my unit set to bring the map up at about 100ft aerial view ... then zoom down as I approach a specific waypoint icon.

Forget the paper "instructions manual" & open this link and print it out : http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...0647-001_w.pdf
Now, while this (PDF file) Operations Manual will explain what each function & setting does ... it's still up to you to figure out how to manipulate those settings to get the unit to do what you want it to do. Page #9 of this manual is what I was talking about in the paragraph above that starts out "There may also be a setting ...... " (they call it "go to cursor")

I'm going by how my Lowrance Elite 5 DSI unit works, so your Elite 7 should be similar since it's basically the same unit with a bigger screen & the 2d sonar added back in.

    ... cp

From the chart screen go to menu. First setting is return to cursor or vessel. Return to vessel take you to your current location the zoom in with plus key.

on the chart screen go to menu. Go to new waypoint. Press enter. Use arrows to scroll to the lat and longs. Press enter and add new numbers. You need to give waypoint a name prior to entering Lon's and last. Then save.

Thanks that's much easier to follow. My glasses weren't strong enough for their manual. This will make it much easier to follow.
    Thank You
