I've never done it, but it has to be better than nothing! You may be able to mark waypoints, and find whatever depth you want to fish.
I don't have the $ to get the fish finder/GPS units that I want right now. It occurred to me this morning on the lake that the same data on map cards is likely available for my IPhone 6. Not sure why I've never thought of this before. Do any of you use your phones for mapping technology? Which app is best?
Thanks
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

The Navionics app is good.
What they said
Save ur money and get exactly what ya want when ya can. This will save ya money in the long run.
I downloaded the free trial version of Navionics. The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't very intuitive. There weren't any instructions on how to use it and so it was difficult to figure out. It's only $9.99 though, so it might be worth a shot. The full version may have a tutorial or something. I also use Android, so maybe the iOS version is different.
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
Thanks guys, I ised the navionics web app (free) on my phones browser this morning. Better than nothing, but it doesn't show boat on map. Going to try the app for less than $10.
Thanks.
The Navionics Boating app does show the boat icon and navigation ... But you have to also buy the in-app purchase of Navionics + to get contours to show in the Boating app ...(as far as I can tell) ...
Still worth the $$
