down image acting weird
Unit was working fine until transducer started going out so I replaced it now everything is working except the down image. It starts to work then what looks like a tight woven fabric pattern takes over and scrolls across the screen. the rest of the locator works just fine its just the down image that has the problem any one have this problem do you think the new transducer could be the problem since i didn't have this problem until i changed the old one out. I moved the wires thinking interference that didn't help

I think this might be a case where swapping your head unit to someone else's boat would really help. It does make sense that the 2D would work and the DI would not, because the transducer has separate piezos for the two different functions. You could check where the transducer plugs into the head unit to make sure there are no bent pins and everything is making good, solid connections.

Is your unit just 2d and DI or is it a side imaging unit? Which unit you have and do you still have old ducer?

Good point, Cray. I'm guilty of assuming there is a dedicated DI. If this is an H'bird SI, then the loss of DI would more likely be a problem with the head unit.

No unit mentioned but sounds similar to enhanced mode being on. Verify software version and try resetting defaults.

If it looks like this ... Turn off DI Enhance Sharpness or increase Chart Speed past 3 ...
I hear this has been fixed in the latest software versions ...

Rickie thats exactly what it looks like I did the upgrade I believe 6.4 will try to do the 2 things you said I have an 1197 and new transducer one question Isuppose i'll have to put in the water right

The top chip is the lakemaster chip the bottom one is the navionics chip quite a difference right???? if i go to a lake called Petenwell here in Wi which by the way has some monster crappies the Lakemaster excels it really shows the river contour much better and is detailed like crazy.so what would you say
