Default Humminbird 768 and Navionics issue

I know it's an older model but Humminbird say's it is compatible with Navionics premium........Anyway

Unit has latest update( 6.270 ) If memory serves, Followed navionics install instructions, unit just display's loading chart but never does.

In GPS info screen I can see the card....just never loads.

    Any help appreciated

You mention "followed Navionics install instructions" ...There shouldn't be any type of install for the Navionics Premium region card ... It is plug and play ...

Is this the Navionics + card or the standard Navionics premium region card ...??

    From navionics website instructions are

    Set unit to simulator
verify software version ( i updated unit to latest version )
place chart in unit loading charts will appear
scroll to chart detail level set to all
set map borders to visible or mmc/sd
    set spot sounding to visible

I have tried loading from home and on the water, either way just shows loading chart, I restored unit defaults when I did the software upgrade on the unit, unit works fine uni maps works i'm stumped..........

Try the Navionics card in another Humminbird unit to see if it works.

I will do that....however I purchased this card from a very respected member here and I have no doubt the card is good.

In addition to what Greg mentioned ...

Try removing the card and then go into the main tabbed menu ...

    Under the Chart tab ...:

    *Turn off Map Borders ...
    *Turn off Spot Soundings ...

This is just more data for the unit to load from the map card that you're probably not going to need to see anyway ...

Thanks I will give it a try...It does seem like the unit has low memory, almost acts like an old computer with limited ram.
Do these units have internal memory like ram? when you reset to factory default does it clear any memory?

    Thanks

I don't think that the Restore Defaults menu clears any RAM within the unit as the unit still has to remember the default menu settings. Getting rid of unwanted/unneeded waypoints, routes and tracks though would.
