    Default Navionics+ Updating?

Just bought a FF that comes with Navionics+, there was actually a Navionics rep at Cabelas (new one in Garner NC) this weekend and he was very helpful. He said my chip has maps for all of the US but if I wanted I could erase that data and download more accurate maps for local waters. But he also said I could never go back to how the chip was originally purchased (with all of US).

So I'm not sure what to do. I like the idea of updating my chip to get the latest details, but I don't like the idea of a "point of no return". Those usually end up as regrettable moments that cost $$$

So what does everyone else do with their chips?

So this may be a stupid response. Can you install a blank card, then download the more accurate info to the blank card? I am assuming the unit you have has a card slot for adding additional maps.

I'm curious as to why a Navionics + card has any lakes on it from date of purchase ...

Greg is this something specific to the 600 series HB KVD NAV model ... ??

I haven't plugged it in yet to check, just going on what the Navionics guy told me. He plugged his chip into a FF in the store and it pretty much had the entire US loaded up.

BTW I've heard from others I don't have to delete what's on the chip I can download additional maps, depending on how much room is on the chip. Guess I'll find out

    Rickie,
That map card is a Navionics product and to tell you the truth: I don’t know what, if anything, is on it. I thought that you had to download any contact to it, so this is all news to me. After reading their web page, I still don’t know any more… Wayne will know the answer to this as he’s dealt with these cards before.
