Default Minn Kota to Lowrance Distortion

I keep having a distortion issue with my Lowrance Touch units at the bow when running my Ulterra. I had the same issue with my other demo boat with the Touch unit and the Terrova. How do I eliminate the Noise/Distortion issue? Tried chokes, moving the wiring, etc. got to be a fix. Anyone have it!!!

I just bought a Humminbird power cord with the built in choke, and I'm going to cut the end off of it and hook it to the power wires on my Lowrance. Haven't done it yet, but going to tomorrow. Anyone tried this?

Have you determined if the interference is getting in thru the power wire or thru the xducer cable ... ??

A choke on the power wire won't help much if the interference is getting in thru the xducer cable ...

I tried that choke wire from HB. No help. I ran a separate ground wire to my TM housing. Worked.

Don't know about the Ulterra yet. Mine is still on back order. Sucks.

I ran a ground wire to lower unit on a Motorguide digita tour and now have a ground wire run to the lower unit of a Motorguide xi5.I don't use any chokes.Without the lower unit being grounded rf is bad.Even though My 360 is 20ft. away from the trolling motor ,without the ground wire,I couldn't use the 360 while using the trolling motor

Go to cb shop get a noise filter.

It was the #1 fix on my boats along with ferrite cores on the ground and hot leed from battery.
Also put them as close to unit as possible.

How did you run the ground wire to the lower unit? That's actually the motor (the lower unit) isn't it?

I was in the car audio business for a long time. I thought about getting a ground loop isolator and some type noise filter to try.

What type ferrite core and where can I get them. What type of CB noise filter, and how are they different than a car audio filter?
