    Default Terrova

Hello everyone, I will be ordering a new boat very soon and I like the Terrova. I would like to know if anyone uses the foot pedal and how does it compare to other trolling motors. I will use the remote but I think I will use the foot pedal more as I also bass fish some and also pitch jigs around docks. The foot pedal would be in the recessed tray and screwed down. Thanks for the help.

It's a very large pedal to be trying to fit into a recessed tray. I seldom use mine if I'm doing any kind of trolling but will use it if I'm jigging brush piles. It does seem awkward to me but I don't use it that often.

With the Terrova being an electric motor, the steering will be slow or sluggish compared to a cable set up, so boat control can be frustrating at times.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I found that you have to raise the top end of the foot control up by about 3/4" to get the best response out of it. Raising it allows your foot to be better seated on the control and easier to push forward and down. I took a 3/4" plank, put the foot pedal on it with the edge of the board only being about 1/4" below the bottom screw hole in the plastic. Then I traced the upper outside shape of the black foot control, cut it with a jig saw (looked like half moon shape), spray painted it black, put two screws in the wood where they would push up into the hole/slots on the bottom plastic hole/slot of the foot control. Don't drive the two screws all the way in. Leave the screw heads up about the plastic material thickness. Install the wood piece by putting the screw heads in the bottom holes and pushing the wood up flush with the top bottom edge. I bet this was confusing. Sorry about that, but putting it down in a hole will make it almost unusable in my opinion.

I like this idea can you post a picture of it? If Minn Kota would have made this pedal "feel" more like a traditional cable steer pedal they would really have something. It would be the best of both worlds IMO.

Sorry but I sold my Terrova last week and I am now backordered waiting on my new Ulterra to arrive in the next 10 years or so. It has the same size foot control so my "rigging' should work on it too. In the mean time, I am using my old cable drive foot control motor. I will take a pictures of the Ulterra set up once I get it. I could take a picture of the wood block I used on the Terrova and plan to use on the Ulterra if that would help. I will try to remember to do that this weekend.

I keep my foot control onboard only as a backup in case my remote batteries die. With a little practice the hand held remote becomes extremely easy to use. I don't miss a single thing about the foot pedal.
