Anyone remember the post about putting a transducer cable in an air hose so it can work on the newer type of trolling motors?
If you can please post the link, I really need it.
thanks

thanks much,
I realized the difficulty yesterday when I strapped down the cable to the TM shaft and couldn't raise it back up.

Kosmo,
After looking at your pictures and judging from my experience yesterday, I find there is zero room for any type of obstruction on the XI5 shaft.
So, does you set up completely avoid the shaft?
What tweaking did you do?
Any worries about the coiled cable getting drawn into the TM prop?
thanks once again,
Brett

No, there's No worries of the cable getting in the prop.look at the picture diagramfishton posted.when the trolling motor is deployed, the transducer cable will coil around the shaft. It doesn't Matter how fast you go.the coiled cable stay tight against the shaft. The issue that I had was, there isn't enough room to get enough coils to be able to lower the trolling motor all the way down.I coiled extra cable and fastened the extra cable to the side of the slide bracket. This let's me lower the trolling for those big waves I incounter out on Kentucky lake.
I've circled were the cable is attached.also when I stow the trolling motor I turn the prop away from the transducer cable(it's not Shown in that picture, but I also had to run a smaller coiled wire, inside of the coiled transducer cable.I did this to get rid of rf noise, while the trolling motor was running )
I got it done,
a bit of a job and I managed not to cut myself with the razor , but it was very possible.
i took a few pics.
im very grateful to you for all the help.
think it's going to work
at least I'll be able to test the feasibility of using it up front.
