Default Motor Guide Xi5 anchor feature

So today was the maiden test of my new Motorguide Xi5 and well it was a good experience minus my anchor feature and heading lock not working. I didn't get a green navigation light at all. Do you have to have them linked up to your HDS units in order to use the Anchor Feature or what?

Is there a way to get the navigation light to come on or is there a trick to this?

Just turn it on. Mine gets a GPS signal, pretty quick.

Haven't had GPS signal or a green navigation light since I turned on the unit just to make sure it powered up. That was all I did literally put in the down position to make sure everything powered up and then stowed. Second time I lowered the motor in to the down position was today to use it and nothing. Couldn't use Anchor feature or anything. Foot pedal worked for a brief time then it quit and could only use the hand control. Have tried erasing the memory multiple times so we could attempt to get the foot control to relink and can't even get this thing to erase. Not sure if I am messing that up as well or what. We disconnect the power from the trolling motor and let it sit for awhile (10 minutes) then reconnect it and attempt pushing the buttons and holding all them down at once that are indicated in the guide and nothing.

Had to deploy and re-stow mine several times before it picked up the signal. No clue as to why but it worked as it is supposed to from then on. Make sure it is locked down or it will never work. Have never got used to foot control but don't use it much. I put a toggle switch on foot control to control power on-off. No way I can hear a beep. I will never really like any power drive head motor. What I do like is pulling up to a down tree in high wind and working my way all around it by spot locking.

This may be a obvious question, but have You tryed installing fresh batteries in both the foot control and handheld remote? I had issues with mine, called Motoguide and had good luck with support!

    Reprogram the gps,
    hold down M on remote,
    while pushing 1 1 1
then using your outboard , make 2 slow circles on the lake,
    should reset the gps

Hey guys, late update due to traveling. Just got off the phone with motor guide Customer Support...btw these folks are great! Before anything can be done I obviously have to register the motor first (dummy me forgot to do that). Anyway, they are going to send out a new gps unit that goes in the head of the unit as well as a new foot pedal so we shall see what happens. I will keep you all updated! Thank you much for the support and info from y'all!
