Default First Post, Looking for Opinions

Ok, this is my first post in this forum and I'm looking for a little advice. I grew up fishing but since moving to a metro (KC) area haven't really had access to fish in my backyard. I'm on a budget and also (I'm sure you all hate it), have gotten obsessed with duck hunting the past 4 years so all budgets and upgrades revolve around that. I'm looking to convert my Momarsh DP boat into a 1-man machine in the off-season and don't have the scratch to buy the 16' wide-body that I want right now. What I'm looking for is a few opinions on a unit that I can hook to the side to help me crappie and bass fish when I'm fartin' around some of the lakes around here. I have a longtail motor right now, but will be getting a trolling motor soon so won't be going faster than 6-8 mph. I'm looking into DI right now and don't need GPS, budget is $200 and less. I don't mind reading 2D, as I grew up watching my dad read his paper graphs over and over, but DI looks pretty awesome. Any opinions would be great, all I have right now is a bass pro to look at them in person and online product reviews.

Humminbird offers the 197c DO at $150. Has okay down imaging. For $250 you can get into a Helix DO, but I would recommend going to $350 and getting the Helix DO with GPS. You can use map cards, mark your favorite spots, navigate, and use as a speedometer.

Call our sponsors and tell them what you want. They have the best prices and can tell you what is available. Great people to work with. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/-memb...lassified-ads/

Welcome to the site! You should ask to see someone's unit in action. Go down to the Spring Camp at Truman and guys will take you for a ride, or maybe a tournament at Smithville or one of the Kansas lakes? After weigh-in you might be able to get a demo. Smithville Marine is having a Humminbird seminar tomorrow if you can make it....Doug Vahrneberg will be there.
