I have Terrova w/I Pilot and have DI transducer on the TM. Works well enough for me. I have SI transducer on transom.
I am finally upgrading my electronics on my boat and i would like some expert advise
I am looking at hummingbird fishfinders that can work with the ipilot trolling motors.
Where is the best place for transducer placement? on the trolling motor? or ?
Thanks in advance for responses

It would be beneficial for your bow unit to have its xducer on the TM so that the sonar images you are seeing are not from the transom 20ft behind you ...

Vic, I assume you added another transducer to the terrova since the built in us2 transducer doesn't support down imaging. Do you have any problem with the wires getting twisted or broken on the auto drive motor? I wanted the exact setup you described with an 899 on the transom and an 859 DI on the trolling motor but was told I couldn't do that. So I was going to go with a base 859 up front without imaging. Please advise and thank you!
Vic, I just read a great post (one of the "sticky" ones) that told me about placing the cable in the groove on the shaft. Looks like that answers my question. Pardon me for not seeing this first. I'm new to the site and am busy exploring new info for the first time. Thanks and good fishing!
