Default HB Helix 5DI with GPS

Never been one to spend much on stuff like this but I purchased a Helix 5di with gps. Pretty excited to get it on the boat. Hope I'm not disappointed!! Just wondering should I mount the transducer to the trolling motor or just put it at the back of the boat or should I buy a second transducer and have one at both places? Any info on getting this thing mounted to the boat and up and running would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Well I don't know anything about the sonar that you have as I have never owned one like you have but as far as the transducer I know that it is a simpler job to put the transducer on the trolling motor than to mount on the transom. As for using two transducers and this would be just my thinking. The price of a switch and another transducer would be as high or not higher than buying another whole sonar unit. Weather a cheap new sonar or a good nice used sonar and they usually come with the transducers. That way I would have two units with one on the trolling motor up front and the other transducer mounted on the transom for one on console or just a second one on the boat.

2nd that, I would just spring for a 2nd unit for the bow and use the gps at the console or tiller. The Helix installs very easily, if you run into any problems just post up questions
