Default Ix5 trolling motor report

Took the boat out today, it got windy, 10 mph+, enter the motor guide ix5 trolling motor,
I was fishing deep brush and anything else I thought might hold a fish.
the xi5 held me pretty much exactly where I asked it to.
Bottom line is I will now be able to go out in much windier condition. I'd never have gone out in 10mph wind before.

pricey but worth it

what have you done about how it sticks out over the front of your boat.? Or have you just left it there? If I don't pull mine back, on some boat docks, my front roller will come up past were the trolling motor is.

What I'm asking about, is when the ix5 is in the stowed position. It sticks out over the front of the boat quite a bit and the front roller can hit iit.It wouldn't take much to bust that plactic.

Yes, you're right about it sticking out. It's a bit of a pain when winching the boat in as it gets in the way on my setup.
i had to mount mine very near the center of the boat or move the navigation light, didn't want to move the light.
Great machine minus the loading issue

Also, when we get a drought I need to be careful near the dock. It almost hits the dock now. Got to launch on the other side

Bean,
you can't move it back, but you can mount it more to the side if that helps.
i like it so much I'm good with it sticking out and dealing with it at the ramp

I think over to the side a little would be great for me brettw. The last thing I want is for it to get ripped off when I load and unload. The only issue I think that I would have is the running of the transducer cable up the shaft of the motor. I know that they have universal sonar but I need my DI on my unit up front for brush piles on Santee Cooper
